CSOP CSI STAR and CHINEXT 50 Index ETF Announces Cessation of Phillip Securities as Market Maker Effective May 2026

CSOP CSI STAR and CHINEXT 50 Index ETF – Market Maker Update

CSOP CSI STAR and CHINEXT 50 Index ETF Announces Cessation of Phillip Securities as Designated Market Maker

Key Points

  • Effective Date: 4 May 2026
  • Change in Market Maker: Phillip Securities Pte. Ltd. will cease to be a designated market maker for the CSOP CSI STAR and CHINEXT 50 Index ETF (SGX Stock Code: SCY (SGD), Bloomberg Ticker: SCY SP Equity).
  • Continuing Market Maker: After the cessation, Flow Traders Asia Pte. Ltd. will remain as the sole designated market maker.
  • No Impact on Fund Management: The fund’s investment objective, focus, and approach will remain unchanged.

Details of the Announcement

CSOP Asset Management Pte. Ltd., the manager of the CSOP CSI STAR and CHINEXT 50 Index ETF, has announced that Phillip Securities Pte. Ltd. will cease its role as a designated market maker for the ETF effective 4 May 2026. This leaves Flow Traders Asia Pte. Ltd. as the sole remaining designated market maker.

The management has emphasized that this change will not impact the way the Sub-Fund is managed. There will be no changes to the investment strategy, objective, or day-to-day operations of the fund as a result of this cessation.

Important Information for Shareholders and Potential Price Impact

  • Liquidity Considerations: The cessation of a market maker can affect the liquidity of the ETF. While Flow Traders Asia Pte. Ltd. remains as a market maker, the reduction to a single market maker could potentially lead to wider bid-ask spreads and affect trading volumes, especially during periods of market stress or heightened volatility.
  • Trading on SGX: The market price of the ETF on the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX) may differ from its net asset value (NAV) per share. Investors should be aware that the ETF’s shares can only be created or redeemed directly with the manager by participating dealers in large blocks, which may affect retail investors’ liquidity options.
  • No Action Required: The manager has indicated that investors do not need to take any action as a result of this announcement.

While the manager asserts no significant impact on fund management, the reduction in the number of market makers may be a point of attention for investors, as it could influence market liquidity and pricing efficiency of the ETF shares. Any significant reduction in liquidity could potentially affect share price volatility and investor confidence.
